When I went to log in it said the email address doesn't match the one on file?
Generally the "email doesn't match" error is an input, permissions, connection or Gumroad issue.
Input:
The email address that you signed up with does not match the email address that you've entered in SubMachine. This is most commonly due to capital letters or spaces before or after the email address. It's also worth checking that the license key has been added correctly too.
Permissions:
As mentioned in the FAQ doc this can be a permissions issue meaning that SubMachine isn’t able to write the settings file to the known location. Close Premiere Pro. Go to /Users/{YOUR USER NAME HERE}/Library/Application Support on Mac or C:\Users\{YOUR USER NAME HERE}\Appdata\Roaming on Windows. Make sure you have read and write permissions for the Application Support folder on Mac or the Roaming folder on Windows. If things are operating correctly there should be a CWS_Settings folder at that location with a SubMachine_Settings.json file inside at that location. If that folder/file are not being created, SubMachine will not work. Once you have set the permissions correctly, open Premiere Pro and SubMachine, try logging in again and see if the folder/file are created correctly.
Connection:
If your internet connection is inconsistent SubMachine may not be able to access the Gumroad database to check and confirm your credentials.
Gumroad:
This is similar to the connection issue above in that SubMachine is not able to connect to the Gumroad database to check and confirm your credentials. This usually resolves itself but can take anywhere from minutes to hours with no idea of how long it's likely to take. It seems to be more prevalent immediately after people have purchased, implying that it takes some time for people to be added to the Gumroad database.
This can also be because you have been logged into a Gumroad account that uses a different email address to the one you signed up for SubMachine with. If you think this might be the case you can check your Gumroad account and SubMachine account and see if the emails match. If they don’t match, try using the Gumroad account email address rather than the SubMachine email address to login to SubMachine. If you continue to have issues you can contact me via email and I’ll run a check for you.
