Why am I seeing lots of gaps between subtitles?
This can be because you’re using variable frame rate footage. In general the best practice is to transcribe variable frame rate footage to a constant frame rate codec like prores.
It can also be because the frame rate of the sequence and the MOGRT don’t match. Try making sure your frame rates match. All the MOGRTs that come with SubMachine are available in the 7 most commonly used frame rates. If you need alternative frame rates you can open the MOGRT in After Effects, change the the frame rate of the MOGRT composition, rename the MOGRT and re export the MOGRT. Renaming the MOGRT is vital so that SubMachine can identify the correct MOGRT to use in Premiere Pro.
Some users have also experienced this due to using Variable Frame Rate (VFR) footage like that shot on a phone. In general the best method of dealing with this is to transcode your original VFR footage to a prores codec and use that as the base for your SubMachine sequence. You can check if your footage is VFR in Premiere by checking the properties of the footage.
