Syncing between Mogrts

SubMachine doesn’t only allow you to create all of this word-by-word timing automatically, it allows you to Share information between Mogrts. We call this "Syncing", a set of tools that allow you to make changes to one mogrt, and spread them to the other mogrts on the timeline.
Because each word in a phrase is a separate word, in order to keep visual continuity throughout a phrase, it’s important that changes we make to one mogrt be applied to the entire phrase. If we moved only the last mogrt in a phrase upwards and changed its color, it’d create an unpleasant jump. Nobody wants to change the same parameters over and over again, that goes against the whole spirit of SubMachine. That’s why we built tools that read the changes you make to the text input, position, style, or animation and allow you to easily propagate those changes to hundreds of Mogrts, quickly.
Please note that you should not deselect any of your Mogrts during the Sync Process.
There are three types of Sync tools in SubMachine:
A Quick Note on Syncing: Syncing is performed by targeting the mogrt with your desired settings with the Premiere playhead. Make sure the playhead is positioned between the in and out point of a mogrt to target it. Now you can select all mogrts you'd like to receive these settings, and click the Sync tools.
Tools Here’s a quick breakdown of the Tools tab. Sync All: Syncs all changed settings, whether font size, style and animation, or position values. You can make changes to a single mogrt, and use Sync All to spread changes to any other selected mogrts. Please note that "Sync All" does not refer to "All Mogrts" - rather it means "All types of Properties" - Sync All will still only sync to mogrts that are selected. (To avoid annoyance, (T) Settings such as Italicised words, or your main text input won't sync to all phrases, but other Text settings like Font Size and Typeface will.) Sync Text & Typeface: Use this to make changes to text input, such as fixing a typo. In this case, you'll only want to select a single phrase. You can also use this to sync settings that have a "(T)" after their name. These settings are typically effects you wouldn't want to apply to your entire sequence, such as specifically Emphasized Words or Italics. These settings will only sync within 1 phrase. And finally, this tool also allows you to make changes to all mogrts on the timeline for settings like Font or Font Size. (Also Covered with Sync All) Sync Style & Animation: Works similarly as Text Settings, except it ignores all (T) values, Font Size, and other typeface controls, which is basically every other available setting within the mogrts. So if you have unique font sizes or positioning throughout your timeline, you can still make changes to color and animation without overwriting those. (Also Covered with Sync All) Sync Position/Scale/Rotation: While some mogrts may have Scale settings, this tool is actually specifically targeting the "Effect Controls" settings in Premiere. SubMachine can sync these values too, and keeping them separate means you're less likely to overwrite any creative choices you make with position. Please note that scaling something to, say, 200% in effect controls could create pixelation, whereas using the scale settings inside the mogrt will Scale losslessly. Also covered with Sync All Sync Tools Conclusion: These different sync tools allow you to sync different types of properties throughout your phrases and all your mogrts. While "Sync All" is the most powerful, you'll benefit from understanding the differences between each when you want to make more targeted batch-changes to the mogrts on your timeline. Splitting and Joining Tools: Having issues with your phrases not including words you need, or including more words than you need? These tools help you quickly move words into new phrases, or join multiple together. Split & Join Selection: Simply select the mogrts you'd like to merge together, and click the Split & Join Selection button.
Split 1 Entire Phrase: This splits 1 whole phrase into 2 separate phrases. All the selected clips must be on 1 track and have the same source text. Note that you will need to check the styling of the new phrase as the style is not copied across.
Advanced Tools
These tools are available for less standard workflows
Reset Word Progression: A bit clunkily named as of now, but this feature is very handy. If you need to add or remove words to a phrase, or create more or less mogrts for any reason, this button will help you reset the Word-Progression from 1. Simply select all of the mogrts in a phrase and click the button. The Word Progression value in all mogrts will now count upward from 1 for each selected mogrt. Word -1 / +1: This button will either add or remove the word progression value for all selected mogrts.
Reset All Mogrt Properties: This resets all the mogrt properties for all of the selected mogrt clips to the original mogrt settings. The only exceptions are the Word Progression (P) and the Text Input (P) source text. These will be ignored. The location of the playhead/CTI is not taken into account.
Reset Specific Mogrt Property: This resets 1 specific mogrt property (the name typed in the text box box below) for all of the selected mogrt clips to the original mogrt settings. The only exceptions are the Word Progression (P) and the Text Input (P) source text. These will be ignored. The location of the playhead/CTI is not taken into account.
