Premiere Pro bugs in 24.2.x
NOTE: VERSION 24.2 and 24.2.1 of PREMIERE CONTAIN BUGS THAT PREVENT SUBMACHINE FROM WORKING. FOR MORE INFO CONTACT US VIA DISCORD.
There are some Adobe API bugs in the latest versions of Premiere 24.2 and 24.2.1 that prevent SubMachine from working correctly. If you haven't already, it's best to turn off "Auto-Update" to avoid issues during a project until you're sure you're ready to update.
I'd recommend doing this immediately. In Creative Cloud go to Preferences > Apps to disable Auto Update for Premiere (And probably best to do After Effects as well).
If you've already auto-updated, I'd recommend rolling back to 24.1 if you'd like keep using SubMachine on a 2024 version, until the issue is resolved.
As Adobe states on their best practices page: "As with any software, we do not recommend updating when you are in the middle of a large project. The best time to update is when you’re between projects or working on smaller pieces."
We are in constant contact with the Adobe engineers and they are aware of this specific API bug. At this stage we don't have a release date for any fixes. We'll let you know here once we get word that Adobe has resolved these issues.
